- Abstract
- The goal of this program was to develop a reliable and meaningful basis for assessing certain safety aspects, namely the fire and toxicity hazards, of articles employed in underground mining operations. This investigation was centered on conveyor belts since these are employed in relatively large quantities, are often installed at the air inlet side of the mine ventilation system, and are particularly prone to overheating, resulting in thermal oxidative decomposition.
