- Abstract
- The past eighteen months since the last UJNR Meeting have been characterized by frequent discussions of combustion toxicity and significant development of new science. The National Academy of Sciences' National Research Council has four panels in the field. One addresses the measurement of combustion product toxicity in scenarios possible in urban rail cars. A second is concerned with the quality of the atmosphere in commercial aircraft during flight, including the eventuality of fire. The third will evaluate the various fire hazard models and their toxicity components. The fourth is reviewing the science of the toxicity of mixtures of gases.
