- Abstract
- Fire, corrosive and toxic gas threats aboard Navy ships continue to be a threat to life and property with a decided disruption of mission capabilities. Repeated variances between small scale tests and actual experiences point up the need for large and full scale tests under actual shipboard conditions. The most recent datum point was lessons learned from the Falkland Islands experience. Therefore, it is important that all materials identified under passive fire safety be tested under full scale conditions in a LBTS. This will insure incorporation of satisfactory material in Navy Platforms.
