- Abstract
- This study examines crime statistics collected in New York City during a five-year period (1963-1967). Its focus is on changes in crime patterns occurring after a 40-percent increase in the police manpower of the 20th Precinct, located west of Central Park between 66th and 86th Streets in Manhattan. Ten crimes were analyzed, including robbery, felonious assault, burglary, grand larceny, other felonies, auto theft, total felonies, "552" misdemeanors, other misdemeanors, and total misdemeanors. Also analyzed were total arrests for felonies and total arrests for misdemeanors.
