- The main thesis of the paper is that Plowman's function, Eq. (2), is not an accurate representation of the relationship between strength and maturity index at low maturity. Thus the authors have suggested an alternative to Plowman's equations. The writer wishes to expand on some of the concepts mentioned in the paper and to suggest that there may be better functions than the proposed exponential function [Eq. (3)].
