Abstract
This research-demonstration project was undertaken in the belief that accidental injury and death could be reduced substantially by suing the group discussion process as an educational technique. The substantiation of this hypothesis is made evident in this report. The primary purpose in undertaking this unusual approach was to apply what is already known to be an effective educational tool to a new field: community concern for accident prevention. The use of the small group discussion method of education led to shared "awareness" of group participants and, in turn, resulted in an effective program in accident prevention based on community awareness of the problem and of ways to meet then. We hope that the information and experience gained from this project will enable others to utilize this approach in their endeavors to reduce accident injury and death.
