- Abstract
- Safety Series No. 50-SG-D2, "Fire Protection in Nuclear Power Plants", was developed as part of the IAEA Nuclear Safety Standards (NUSS) program. The objective of the Safety Guide was to 'advise designers, safety assessors and regulators on the concept of fire protection in the design of nuclear power plants' and to recommend practical ways of implementing the concept in some detail. This Safety Practice supplements Safety Guide No. 50-SG-D2 by providing a detailed fire safety inspection checklist for use by qualified fire safety specialists in assessing the implementation and effectiveness of the overall fire safety arrangements of an operating nuclear power plant. The Guide should be used as a primary reference in the application of this Safety Practice.
