- Abstract
- Magnetic tape, and particularly video magnetic tape, is not an archival material. Measurable deterioration occurs in a period of 5 years, and noticeable deterioration in 20 years. Motion picture film, on the other hand, is considered to be an archival material when properly processed, handled and stored. This report describes several methods used to transfer video informtion from magnetic tape to motion picture film. These include kinescope recording, using the midfield splice or rapid pulldown method of synchronizing frame rates, electron beam recording and laser scanner recording.
