- Abstract
- False alarms and missed detections are common problems to any autonomous surveillance system. The present investigation describes the possible causes for the occurrences of false alarms and missed detection in a demonstration system based on an electro-optical sensor for the autonomous detection of wildfires. After an analysis of the basic physical principles of autonomous wildfire detection, the possible causes for false alarms/missed detections are investigated. Based on the false alarm/missed detection analysis the design of an autonomous wildfire detection sensor is described.
