- Abstract
- Factory Mutual Research Corporation proposes to perform and partially subsidize the development of an experimentally verified physical and mathematical model of upward flame spread over the surface of textile materials. The predictive models, being based on fundamental combustion law, will be appropriate within reasonable limits for any variations of: 1) fabric orientation, 2) ambient gas temperature, pressure, and chemical composition, 3) fabric mass per unit area, moisture content, and thermo-chemical properties. Both laminar and turbulent burning will be considered.
