- The world-wide explosion in the demand for new communication networks has brought new potential fire hazards because of the universally poor understanding of the hazards involved with communication cables and associated installation practices. FRS is leading wide ranging studies of the fire hazards of cables, involving industry, Government and academia. A full scale cable fire test facility has been developed by FRS to study hazard scenarios in plenum spaces, under-floor ducts and vertical risers.
