- Abstract
- ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH The results of an experimental programme dealing with the rheology of fresh concrete are presented. More than 80 mixes (mortars and concretes, with or without superplastizers) were designed and tested. The rheological characteristics of the mixes were measured with the BTRHEOM rheometer and Abrams cone tests were simultaneously performed. It emerged that the relationship between the torque and speed of rotation of the rheometer is not strictly linear. The Herschel-Bulkley model provides a more precise description of the behavior of the material. Among the benefits of this new approach is that it avoids the problem of negative thresholds which arises with the Bingham model. For a number of applications it is nevertheless possible to retain the Bingham approach, on condition that the rheometer test is conducted differently.
