Abstract
According to the 23rd paragraph of the National Firefighting Code in inflammable and explosive atmosphere (class A and B) the floor covering has to avoid both mechanical and electrostatic sparking and to prevent fires and explosions. This paper deals with a new antistatic floor covering developed by GRABOPLAST in cooperation with Budapest Technical University. The new antistatic floor has all of the advantages of the conventional antistatic plastic floors, but because of the special structure of the material and the special laying method neither conductive adhesive nor grounding wire system is needed. New measuring method and measuring device are also described in the paper to check the antistatic behavior of floor coverings.
