- These preliminary results indicate the exciting possibilities for unravelling the production and destruction mechanisms for intermediate hydrocarbons in diffusion flames. In the near future this work will be extended to other intermediate hydrocarbons which have been detected mass spectrometrically. We are also investigating the possibility of applying this computational scheme to species which have been detected with optical techniques, in particular PAH and soot particles.
