Abstract
This paper presents the results of a survey conducted to assess the level of awareness of safety information and of legislation concerning flammable fabrics in two widely divergent samples of mothers living in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. White, well-educated mothers - especially those who experienced some sort of burn accident in their families - were found to have a higher level of awareness than had black, low education level mothers.
