Abstract
A few years ago a computer was a huge machine requiring someone with a PhD in mathematics to switch it on. Now computers are everwhere - -industry, commerce, and the home--and are used for a multitude of applications. In many cases it is not immediately evident that a piece of equipment is in fact a computer dedicated to a particular purpose. In many companies the only permanent records of business activities are those stored within its computers and it is therefore vital that this equipment should be protected against all hazards. This article describes the extinguishing systems used to protect computer installations plus some interesting case histories.
