Abstract
ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH Using the measurements described in the first paper we have modelled the rheological characteristics of mixes according to their composition. We propose a physical interpretation of the Bingham model in which the shear threshold is considered to result from friction between solid particles while the plastic viscosity term is the result of viscous dissipation due to the movement of water in the pores of the sheared material. A general form has been produced for the models and these have been calibrated using experimental data. Plastic viscosity appears to be controlled essentially by the relative solid concentration of the fresh material while the shear threshold is the result of the combined contributions of each type of particle on the basis of size and, roughness of particles and their affinity for the superplastifier (for mixes with additives). In addition to their ability to make predictions (which needs to be confirmed by other experimental data) the models allow us to understand some general trends which affect the formulation of cement based materials and can advantageously be included in concrete mix design software.
