- The current British Standard BS 5839 Part 1, is now in it's third year of use, and it is the extent of use in the U. K., and elsewhere, that has ensured that the standard has an important part to play in the field of fire protection. The 1988 document is a revision of the 1980 standard, however the roots of the document go back much further.
