- Shortly before 12:47 am on Tuesday, March 15, 1994, an accidental fire occurred in a Pacific Bell telephone exchange interrupting telephone service including E911 service for more than 12 hours. The fire was in a 138 ft x 164 ft, 13-th floor room that contained six power plants used to provide dc power to telephone equipment. The room of fire origin was protected with smoke detectors.
