- Abstract
- The Task Force on Education and Training was motivated to study the issue of women in construction because of the persuasive evidence that the construction work force of the future will need to comprise more non-traditional participants. Women are generally regarded as one demographic component which will contribute progressively more candidates to all levels of construction employment from upper management to tradespersons and laborers. Is this basic thesis valid? And, if so, what must be done to attract and maintain more women in construction? The answers to these questions became the central objective of the research. This report outlines the study and the results, and offers some advice in the way of a "game plan" for attracting women to construction and then providing the necessary guidance and training to maintain them on career tracks.
