Abstract
As part of an ongoing program for the characterization of materials with potential for use in Army systems, on 14 March 1983, the Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center Procurement Office was requested to purchase specimens of a polyester material designated FP-100, manufactured by the Mark Stevens Company, 2815 Greenridge #74, Houston, Texas 77057. Purchased under contract DAAG46-83-M-0932, the subject material arrived at AMMRC's Polymer Research Division Laboratory on 9 Sep 83. Included with the specimens of FP-100 polyester, by choice of the manufacturer and at no additional charge to the Government, were specimens of a polyurethane form designated FP-102. The FP-100 polyester and FP-102 polyurethane foam were of interest primarily as fireproofing materials, and were subjected to careful, controlled flammability testing. In addition, testing was conducted, as appropriate, to elucidate other characteristics of the material. The flammability results presented herein are for the purpose of materials characterization under controlled laboratory conditions and are not intended to reflect the hazards presented under actual fire conditions.
