- Abstract
- How, in a time of tax limitation initiatives, hiring freezes, and budget cutbacks, can a community increase its capability to attack a serious arson problem? With that question in mind, the U.S. Fire Administration commissioned this project. A number of communities had reported to the U.S. Fire Administration that arson strike forces had dramatically improved their success in combating serious arson problems. As the name implies, a strike force focuses the capability of a large number of skilled investigators to tackle a major arson or series of arsons. Typically, these investigators come from a number of agencies who agree to share investigative resources when a serious arson problem arises.
