- Abstract
- The 1969 report "Fire Record of Cities", published by the National Fire Protection Association, indicated six New England Cities of similar populations with widely divergent records of building fires per 1,000 population. This second portion compares Holyoke, a deteriorating industrial city and Chicopee, a resurgent industrial community both in the 50,000-60,000 class and Salem, an expanding commercial, industrial, and tourist center and Melrose, a residential community, both in the 30,000-50,000 class.
