- Abstract
- In the present study is a continuation of previous work on upward turbulent flame spread. In the previous experiments, polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and wood samples were fixed to a vertical Marinite (inert) board and a methane line gas burner was used to ignite the samples at the bottom. Sustained upward flame spread occurred on PMMA, but not on wood, even with the burner kept on for more than ten minutes. In this study an experiment was designed to investigate the conditions under which sustained upward flame spread on vertical wood samples occurs.
