Abstract
The aim of the present investigation was to study the effect of a steel valve, mounted in a GRP-pipe system, on the fire endurance of the system. According to the current views within IMO, premature failure of the valve or leakage through the bolted flange connection between valve and GRP-flange can be accepted only if the GRP-pipe sections including the GRP-flanges connected to the valve are not damaged to such an extent that replacement is necessary.
