Abstract
The work reported herein was carried out at the Georgia Institute of Technology during the time from January 1, 1972 through March 31, 1972, sponsored by the National Science Foundation under the RANN program (Research Applied to National Needs) and monitored by the Government-Industry Research Committee on Fabric Flammability (GIRCFF). The work constitutes a continuation of the research carried out under a previous NSF grant and under the same GIRCFF program during the contract period from November 1, 1970 through November 30, 1971. The GIRCFF program involves, besides the Georgia Institute of Technology, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Factory Mutual Research Institute and the Gillette Company Research Institute. The purpose of the experimental and analytical research performed at the Georgia Institute of Technology is to provide the modeling rules and the fabric characteristics needed for determining the fabric ignition probability for given exposure to a heat source.
