- The data contained in this publication summarizes the number of fire, deaths, injuries, and total dollar loss in 1983 as reported by participating local fire departments, through State authorities to the United States Fire Administration. These figures and analysis are preliminary; final results will be published in the near future. The information in this publication is available as a result of the combined efforts of NFIC members to process and transmit the 1983 data in a timely manner to the United States Fire Administration.
