- Abstract
- The problem of smoke and fire in aircraft cabins has been one of great controversy and given serious attention by government and industry. Extensive research and development have been initiated in an effort to solve the problems faced today. This paper addresses this problem by presenting several facets: a personal experience involving an aircraft fire; statistical information; current materials being used in wide bodies; the cabin interior materials from the manufacturers viewpoint; from the maintenance and engineering standpoint.
