- This book, by David Birk, which is accompanied by a computer disk containing two models and ancillary programs, was developed out of Birk's master's degree project at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Massachusetts, USA. It is the first textbook being offered in the currently very important fire protection engineering area of room fire modelling. While a large number of very lengthy reports can be found on this topic, a textbook covering the area has long been awaited.
