Abstract
A fire-endurance test was made of a wood-joisted floor, 13 ft 6 in by 17 ft 4 in long, test 272, which had a ceiling of lightweight plaster on metal lath. The test was made in cooperation with the Metal Lath Manufacturers Association and the Vermiculite Institute to obtain data from which to derive a fire-resistance rating for the construction. The choice of the plaster thickness was based on two exploratory tests, 239 and 240 in which the plaster aggregate was vermiculite. The gypsum plaster on one-half the ceiling for this test was from one manufacturer; that on the other half from another.
