- Abstract
- The objective of this project is to begin verification experiments required for application of fire rating techniques for shelter components. The scope of present effort covers the preliminary study of responses of shelter components to typical fire exposures. Experiments were performed to evaluate the responses of shelter components to typical fire exposures in order to develop means for predicting these responses from the results of a minimum numer of standardized tests. Exposures were provided by an infrared lampbank. Samples included material of both high and low insulating qualities, inert materials, and those exhibiting ablative and dehydration processes. Each sample was approximately 17-in. wide, 24-in. high and 2-in. thick.
