- Abstract
- Research on dust explosions has been in progress intermittently for 100 years and continuously for more than 50; but explosions in industry, both above and below ground, are still responsible for more human and economic loss than should be tolerated. What to do about this is simple in principle: research is needed to give us so complete a knowledge of dust flames that the probability and magnitude of an incident under any conditions can be accurately forecast, and fully adequate precautions taken beforehand.
