Abstract
The Minerals Management Service (MMS), U.S. Department of Interior, is designated as the lead agency for in situ burn research in the Oil Pollution Research and Technology Plan prepared under the authority of Title VII of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA-90). In response to MMSs continuing effort to ensure the relevance of its research program to the needs of the user community, and as a result of widespread pre-approval of in situ burning and advances in the technology, MMS presents this collection of in situ burn resource materials. This collection was developed primarily to aid oil spill response professionals with knowledge and training in the use of in situ burning as a response tool. The collection provides a wealth of information in a convenient format that can be used in the planning, response or research environment. It contains more than 350 documents with over 13,000 pages and nearly one hour of video.
