Abstract
According to ISO 834 "Fire Resistance Tests - Elements of Building Constructions", the static pressure in the furnaces should be measured. Measuring the static pressure in a turbulent environment, such as a furnace under operation, is rather difficult. Great care has to be taken in choosing the appropriate probe design. This report deals with some of the theory behind pressure measurements and gives advices about what type of probe that should be used. It also gives some information about what influence the furnace pressure conditions can have on the test result. For that purpose tests on two similar wooden doors were performed with different pressure conditions. Finally, recommendations on types of probes are given and considerations about furnace operation are made.
