- Abstract
- This report determines the data requirements and performance evaluation factors to be used in the National Solar Heating and Cooling Demonstration Program. Solar energy systems used for heating hot water, space heating, and space cooling are considered and specific measurements and analytical procedures are recommended to determine the thermal effectiveness for daily, monthly, seasonal, or annual operating periods. The sensor accuracy and sampling rate effects on measurement uncertainty for several performance factors is presented. Application of the individual performance factors for the comparison of subsystem and system thermal performance as a function of building type and climatic region is discussed.
