- [ABSTRACT IN ENGLIGH] The basic document (GD) on fire safety - like all others - has not been accepted by the permanent EG commitee on buildings. The technical discussion is completed with exception of the topic "Fire behavior of building materials". As the relatively voluminous document only exists in English language it is represented in its outlines. Function of the basic document is to establish communication between the very general requirements on buildings by the guide for building matgerials and concrete orders for CEN standards and guiding principles for permission. At the same time the basic document fire safety sums up the usual fire safety measures in all member states to form a basis for as far as possible uniform European fire safety way of thinking. The problems relating the fire behavior of building materials are considered.
