- Abstract
- Measurements of the multiphoton ionization (MPI) spectra of CH, C atoms, and O2 have been made in atmospheric-pressure CH4/air and C2H4/air flames in the 280-315 nm region. The transitions involved are [equation] and [equation], for CH, the [equation] and [equation] multiplets for carbon atoms, and [equation] for )2. Unusual rotational line intensities are observed in the CH spectra, which double resonance experiments show arise from near resonance with the intermediate [equation] state. The MPI spectrum of O2 is much more intense in flames compared to room-temperature, atmospheric-pressure conditions.
