- Abstract
- In this hospital fire, the areas most directly exposed to the rapidly deteriorating conditions and loss of emergency power were those that included the most vital critical-care, laboratory, and support functions. Major exposure of these areas required the relocation and evacuation of patients and staff on several different floors. After the termination of the actual fire emergency, the loss of these areas due to direct fire or smoke damage required rapidly instituted recovery activities to prevent major crippling of the continued functions of the hospitals.
