- Abstract
- This report presents a state-of-the-art literature survey on the behavior of steel structures in fire. The use of steel in building construction, its advantages and disadvantages, its behavior when exposed to fire and the factors affecting this behavior is presented. Various research studies conducted using experimental and analytical techniques to determine the overall behavior of steel structures in fire are reviewed. Conclusions derived from these studies are given. Computer programs developed to study the various parameters affecting the overall behavior of steel structures in fire are presented.
