Abstract
Spray combustion occurs in various engineering applications. In a practical spray, the size and location of droplets may not be uniform. As a result, the flame propagation in sprays is in fact chaotic in nature. This paper presents the initial results of a parametric exploration of the chaotic flame propagation phenomena in sprays. As an initial step the apparatus of Ashgriz and Yao is modified and used to produce the liquid fuel arrays. The effects of fuel vapor concentarion on the mechanism of chaotic flame propagation and the flame front fluctuation are presented.
