Abstract
Already in 1931 has Mr. M. H. Fischer of Berlin published a substantial general view covering research work concerning the practical sense of direction of people in rooms. While the number of the resp. research works increased world wide, the relevant work in the Federal Republic of Germany has hardly made any progress. Both the USA and the USSR have already reached a leading position in this field, and the research work has certainly been stimulated by appropriate work at space stations. Special panic investigations will be made in the USA only, according to my opinion. The application of the now certainly practical findings will be made by owners of large sales houses because they have quickly learned that rather good and natural human direction lay-out will bring better sales results. At least this kind of application has shown that a consideration of the psychological orientation laws will even bring lower construction costs. Indeed, we can expect that this special field of psychology will bring valuable results regarding the improvement of the German fire protection, namely: by a consultation for planning, by a training for fire protection officers, by publications, and by know-how deliberations.
