Abstract
In contrast to numerous studies of radiant emission from fuel jets and from pool fires, relatively few investigations of radiant emission from wall fires have been performed. Therefore, despite the importance of radiative heat transfer in controlling burning rates in fires of hazardous scale, the contribution of radiation to energy transfer in wall fires is not yet sufficiently well understood to be taken into account with confidence in current theoretical models of wall-fire combustion. The present work has the objective of providing further experimental data on wall-fire radiation which clearly are needed for valid formulations of wall-fire models.
