- ONLY ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH It is a significant problem to insure the safety of occupants during the fire of high rise buildings. The refuge areas in buildings can prevent the persons not to suffer the influence of smoke when they entered these areas. In this paper, the pressure difference between refuge areas and other spaces, and the methods of indirect pressurization were discussed. The pressure fluctuations due to the opening or shutting of doors, the glass broken of windows and the effects of the outside wind are analysed too, and suggested some measures should be adopted when designing the smoke control system of refuge areas.
