- Abstract
- The primary objective of the investigation is to determine the feasibility of using the release rate apparatus (RRA), developed at Ohio State University, for establishing and monitoring smoke standards for Navy electrical cables under fire conditions. Secondary objectives are to investigate the effects of certain basic parameters on burning and smoke generation of cables, and to attempt to find a correlation between RRA heat measurements and the IEEE-383 flame propagation test. The latter test is now a part of the Navy's principal specification for shipboard cables, MIL-C-915E.
