Abstract
This report evaluates the nationwide magnitude and extent of pediatric lead poisoning resulting from the ingestion of lead-based paint. Estimates are given of the number of children who have elevated blood lead levels (40 ug or more of lead per 100 ml of whole blood) in each of 241 Standard Metropolitan Statistical Areas throughout the country. The mathematical models used to obtain these estimates are documented together with the assumptions and data upon which those models are based. Partial validation of both models and assumptions is also reported.
