- The Department of Energy (DOE) Accelerated Strategic Computing Initiative (ASCI) has launched the development of a large number of software projects and the acquisition of large scale, massively parallel computers for use on Defense Program projects at the National Labs. In particular, at Sandia National Laboratories, the development of a multi-mechanics analysis program, SIERRA, is under way. SIERRA draws heavily on existing mechanics analysis software developed at Sandia. We will present an overview of the ASCI program, the SIERRA project and the development of the fire field simulaiton module for SIERRA. The fire field simulation module project, SIERRA/Fuego, will be described.
