- Abstract
- The toxic fume and fire hazards were determined for untreated woods, woods treated to provide fire and rot resistance, and conveyor belt compositions. Toxic load assessments were obtained for all the test conditions studied. To perform these investigations, an apparatus capable of simulating varying conditions of temperature, flow, atmosphere with provision for accommodating varying sample thicknesses, total and intermittent product collection, as well as continuous parameter monitoring, was designed and constructed. The fire hazard presented by the conveyor belts was higher than that of the NCX-treated woods; toxic hazards were comparable.
