- [ABSTRACT IN ENGLIGH] The achieved impressions of organization, handling and efficiency of fire protection in East Berlin and the whole area of the former DDR during an activity as an advisor for several months are compared with the situation in the 'old' FRG. Starting point is the high value of effective fire prevention and protection because of economic reasons given by party and the state and which can be picked off by the legal basis and the chosen structures of preventive and protective fire fighting. It is reported about tasks, equipment, housing, education and further training of professional and voluntary firemen of cities, communities and factories and about specialities in the DDR. For example the representation of handling of fire prevention includes the support of the 'Organ Fire Service' in fire investigation and the role of firemen (and women) during fire prevention controls and education of fire prevention. Positive as well as negative aspects of the change and the following development since the 'Change' in autumn 1989 are pointed out. Withoug suppressing the existing deficit, a summarized critical reflection gives a positive judging of the existing situation and to an optimistic perspective. Concrete hints at the actions, which are not always seen in a realistic way, to further effective improvement of fire service in the new Bundeslander conclude the complete survey, which is due to a report.
