- Abstract
- A flame-spread test procedure was developed to expose the surface of a wood floor, bonded in place over a noncombustible base, to a controlled fire. The flame spread on unfinished maple strip flooring was found to be only 3 to 5 inches beyond the igniting material. This indicates that this type of flooring, when so applied, is not a flame-spread hazard during the initial development of a fire.
