- Abstract
- Three-dimensional calculations of the smoke spread by the field model FLUENT are presented for some applied cases of fires in road and rail tunnels. The purpose of the work is to show how field models can predict the spread of smoke and the temperature of the fire gases in tunnels involved in fire. Also experimental data of the smoke spread and temperature from fire tests in tunnels are presented in the report. Measured values from some of the tests are compared with calculated values from the field models. The report is finished by a discussion of the limitations of the field models used today.
